Wrexham
Overview

Wrexham county is home to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal, a feat of Industrial Revolution-era civil engineering that was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2009.

Wrexham is also home to Wales’ oldest football club and the oldest international football stadium still in use.

Over the next five years, we will be focusing on investing for the future in Wrexham to help protect and improve the environment by focusing our efforts on our wastewater treatment sites.

Previous Investment Period
2020-2025

Every five years we prepare a regulatory business plan which is submitted to Ofwat as part of the Price Review process. The plans are based on customer views and cover our performance commitments, efficiency, investments, and bills. Below is an example of the work carried out in your area during the previous investment period 2020-2025.

Case Study
Lambourne Court, Gwersyllt

During extreme wet weather, parts of the waste network in Gwersyllt, Wrexham can sometimes be overwhelmed which puts properties in the Lambourne Court area at risk of flooding. Earlier this year our Contract partners, Morgan Sindall along with their subcontractors Wiliam Hughes Cyf and HB Tunnelling completed a £2 million scheme to help protect homes in the area from flooding as well as helping to protect the local environment during heavy rain.

During the 6-month project, work on site included installing new additional pipes in the waste network to create extra storage within the system during heavy rainfall as well as modifications to an existing underground storage tank. New pipes were laid in several different locations including within a primary school playing field.
